Seemingly all medications, treatments, nay diets and lifestyles would seem to carry with them side effects to one degree or another.
A principle one I came across researching my current life style and way of living and eating was so called ‘keto flu’. Some spoke of feeling weak, others of having difficulties in the bowel movement area, namely not being as ‘regular’ as they would be accustomed.
My findings were for the most part, none of the above, however I did realize that as I was on medications that reduced glucose in the body additional to that of the diet of low / no carb and high healthy fat As the loss of energy was itself debilitating, I needed to reduce the medication or stop the diet. As the diet alone brought my glucose to normal, manageable levels, I went rather for this than to continue to take medications that themselves can have side effects in their own right. For example, metformin, a common treatment for type 2 can give some difficulties in the bowel movement areas as above. It is known to cause tiredness and lethargy and many more ( reported ) symptoms some of which sound to me very much the same as type 2 diabetes but hey, I’m not a doctor so don’t take too much account of my opinion.
But on that, take a look if you would please at this video

Low carb for doctors: Side effects and how to handle them
From our good doctor Unwin, who is a GP and qualified medical practitioner here in the UK.
The side effects he here reports from his patients each on low carb diets of one form or another are of ‘transient’ symptoms that do not last or persist even beyond a few days in some cases. In fact, the benefits would seem ( as I can personally confirm ) to far out way those of medications often prescribed to type 2 patients.
