The Food Programme

On the BBC iPlayer, there is a Food Program episode called :

The Food Strategy: Is There One?

Released On: 26 Jun 2022

Available for over a year

Dan Saladino and Sheila Dillon dig deep into the details of the newly published Government Food Strategy.

The Food strategy for the UK is a document that was published by the UK government in June 2022. This is examined and commented upon by Dan Saladino and Sheila Dillon on the BBC Radio 4 Food Programme which is well worth a listen as it explains what is happening in the UK regarding the food industry and how food has become harmful to the general public due to over processing, ultra processing of food and profit making being put ahead of public health.

Its available on the BBC iPlayer for a limited time, so if you are in the UK and have access to the iPlayer, then I would recommend listening to this programme.

The headline for me from this was that there seems to be a level of toxicity in the food we eat that is brought about by ultra processing but little seems to being done to stop it as the food industry is a powerful lobby.

Of course as individuals, we can make our own decisions on what food to eat but this doesn’t help those who are for now healthy but may not be in the future who are misled into thinking that processed foods are safe or nothing to worry about.
